LA protesters cheer GOP’s delayed vote on Obamacare repeal
Cheers echoed from the streets of downtown Los Angeles on Thursday, where nearly 1,000 had gathered to protest the anticipated U.S. House of Representatives’ vote to repeal and replace the Affordable Care Act.
Carrying signs that read, “Save Obamacare,” nurses, patients, union members and others marched to the Roybal Federal Building on Temple Street chanting, “Do what’s right! Do what’s fair! Hands off our Obamacare!”
The early afternoon news of a postponed House vote gave protesters a momentary sense of relief and victory, but many said they would continue to pressure lawmakers to save the Affordable Care Act from repeal.
