The Chargers will join the Rams in Orange County next month for the start of training camp, and the teams will work together, to an extent.

The Rams and Chargers will hold two joint practices, on Aug. 9 at UC Irvine and on a to-be-announced date on the Chargers’ turf. The teams also will meet in a preseason game on Aug. 26 at the Coliseum.

The Rams will return to Irvine for a second consecutive year, with their first practice scheduled for July 29. Between then and Aug. 17, the Rams will open 15 practices to the public.

Costa Mesa will host the newly relocated Chargers at Jack Hammett Sports Complex beginning on July 30, which will be the first of 13 practices open to the public. All practices will run from 10 a.m. to noon, except for a night practice at Orange Coast College on Aug. 2.

An additional session at StubHub Center in Carson on Aug. 5 will only be open to season-ticket holders and wait-list members. The Chargers also will host a joint practice with New Orleans at a date to be announced. The Chargers and Saints play a preseason game in Carson on Aug. 20.

Gates to Jack Hammett Sports Complex will open one hour before the start of each practice. Admission is free, and parking will be available for $10 at the OC Fair and Events Center.

At UC Irvine, parking is available on campus for a fee, gates will open 90 minutes before the start of each open practice and some players will sign autographs at the end of each practice.
